Sample Answer
Para 1:Introduction.(背景引入,摆明立场)
It has always been a controversial issue over whether general educationor specific education is deemed more suitable for schoolchildren. Some people may argue that a narrow range of subjects related toa particular career could prepare students better for future employment, but I firmly believe that secondaryschool provide a general education of a wide range of subjects.
Para 2: BodyParagraph 1(分论点)
Common sense tells us that one is ableto acquire more skills and knowledge if he/she enrolls for a variety ofcourses. Nowadays it is increasingly evident that those who possess knowledgein different fields have a competitive advantage over those who are not. Moreand more companies are looking for diverse talents so students who have a widerbackground of education enable them to be winners in the competitive workplace.
Moreover, students who study a widerange of subjects are more easily to develop innovative thinking skills becauseof engaging in various subjects that spark new thoughts. It is also worthemphasizing that secondary school students are too young to have a clearconcept of career paths. Therefore, it is reasonable for them to select a widerange of subjects to discover their own interests gradually.
Para 3: BodyParagraph 2 (让步段)
The main advantage of focusing on narrowsubjects is that students can concentrate their efforts on a specific area ofinterests and seek to become professionals. This point of view is valuable whenit comes to those subjects that require learner’s commitment for years, such asmedicine, law and engineering. But due to time limits, students only focus onthe depth of knowledge rather than the width, which would compromise their fulldevelopment.
Para 4: Conclusion(总结)
To sum up, in order to survive intoday’s information explosion society, it is more appropriate to encourage secondaryschool students to learn a wide range of subjects
