Sample answer

The pie charts illustrate how the proportion ofdifferent types of books sold by a bookseller changed from 1972 and 2012.

In 1972, Adult fiction, Children ’s fiction andbiographies were in equal percentage (20%). The percentage of Adult fictionclimbed to 25% in 1992, more than doubling in 2012(45%) and becoming the mostpopular book in the year. Children ‘s fiction also saw an upward trend,slightly rising to 22% in 1992 and then to 25% in 2012.

The percentage of biography decreased by 5% in1992, and sharply dipped to 8% after 2 decades. The percentage in travel booksrose from 15% in 1972 to 18 % in 1992, before it again reduced to merely 10% in2012. Other type of books, which accounted for 25% collectively in 1972, alsodropped by 5 % in 1992, ending at 12% in 2012.

Overall, Adults fictions gained greater popularityover the period while other type of books underwent a harsh decline.

Visitors always deem international traveling as agreat opportunity to broaden their knowledge. Yet sometimes visitors caninstead gain their prejudice towards the host country due to certain reasons.Measures should be taken to better the mutual understandings between overseatravelers and the host countries.

A important factor that provokes the complaints offoreign visitors is that the local residents do not show proper manners. Anegative behavior in China is that people tend to inappropriately call theforeigners as” lao wai”, which would tremendously annoy them. Foreign touristscan also develop negative views over the host place if tourism facilitiescannot bring the foreigners any convenience, such as notifications without anytranslations, toilets without doors. Moreover, foreign travelers can becometremendously disappointed if the host country is not environmentally green andpleasing.

Exhibitingfriendliness to the guests from other countries is the first step to establishgood tourism images of the country. Foreign visitors judge the traveling country, notonly by the manners of citizens and by the conveniences, but also by theenvironmental conditions. Repulsion would immediately grow among visitors whenthey find the country they visit is severely polluted. Uncivil behaviors, suchas littering, spitting can also leave bad impressions. Improving the awarenessto protect the environment among local residents and establishing a sustainabletourism should be another cynosure of the government.

To sum up, international tourism providesopportunities to enhance mutual communications between countries. Yet effortsshould be made to ensure that foreign visitors well adapt to the local societyand establish good environmental image to avoid negative judgments.
