1. Areyou good at organizing time?
Yeah,I’d say I’m not too bad at it actually. I mean, I always get my work done ontime, and I also set aside a bit of time each day to do exercise, like goingfor a jog or something. So um, yeah, I’d say I’m pretty organized in terms ofmy time.
Getsth done
Setaside some time 留一些时间
2. Howdo you usually organize your time?
Imainly organize it by using calendar APP on my phone, cos I can put all myappointments and things onto it. And whenever I need to check something, I canjust look at my phone. So I find it extremely helpful, and ever since I startedusing it, I’ve been a lot more organized.
Appointment
3. Doyou think planning is important for time management?
Yeah, most certainly. You know, I think, for anything, planning is important, andtime management is no exception, because if you don’t plan your time, how canyou manage it?! So I think they kind of go hand-in-hand.
Sthis no exception
Gohand-in-hand
Part3: Being Famous
1. How do people become famous?
Well I suppose people mainly become famous from beingsuccessful in what they do. For example, if you think of all themost famous film stars, popstars and sports stars around the world, thenI think it’s true to say thatthey are all incredibly good at what they do,and that’s really the main thing that led to them becoming famous.
2. Are there anydifferences between the people who were famous in the past, and the people whoare famous today?
That’s an interesting question, and to tell the truth,I’m not really all that sure. But thinking about it, I guessthere might be a few differences. I mean, nowadays it’s relativelyeasier to become famous because of the Internet, which gives everyone thepossibility of gaining exposure to a large number of people. So becauseof this, I’d say that nowadays there are a lot of people with normalbackgrounds who have been able to become famous, whereas in the past, Iimagine this wasn't so much the case, and that most people who became famousseveral decades ago probably received more professional training.
exposure – (here refers to ‘publicity’ 宣传)
In the past this wasn't so much the case = it wasn’t reallylike this 以前不太这样子
3. Do you think famous people have muchinfluence on young people?
Yeah I suppose they do.Because I mean, young people tend to look up to the celebritiesthey admire, and find inspiration from them. For example, when I listen tosports players being interviewed, a lot them will talk about a pastchampion who was their hero and gave them the inspiration to succeed. And Ithink this is also the case with other famous people, like popstars andfilm stars.
this is also the case with…… = ……

The famous person I'd like to talk about is Jim Parsons, who plays the breakout role, Sheldon, in an exceedingly popular American TV soap opera, The Big Bang Theory.
I like him because he is a very talented actor. In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon is a very tough role to play, he is an intelligent but nerdy, self-conscious, stubborn scientist who likes to use all kinds of obscure scientific terminology in his daily conversations. But Jim Parsons is able to do it just right. He can use very subtle body languages and facial expressions to create amazing comic effects to crack the audience up. I read about an article introducing his first audition for this role. He did such a great job that the director of the show was convinced right away he was the perfect candidate for this role. And in order to ensure he did not do it out of luck, the director asked him to do his acting one more time, and Jim's performance was equally impressive.
Another thing I like about him is that he is brave enough to be true to himself. He is a gay, which is, even in the United States, against the mainstream value, but Jim bravely came out of the closet. He publicized his relationship with his boyfriend, and made many inspiring speeches to encourage people to be faithful to their heart. I have always admired and respected people like Jim Parsons who lives his own life and makes his own choices, which takes real courage. |
