Task Two Argument

It is important for all towns and citiesto have large public outdoor spaces such as parks and squares. To what extentdo you agree or disagree?

One of thehallmarks of human civilization is the creation of cities and towns whichprovide shelter and various entertainment facilities for its dwellers. Themodels of modern cities are ones that exhibit a perfect combination of theoutdoors and human ingenuity. Outdoor spaces like parks and squares are thus ofgreat significance.

For one, people nowadays are suffering fromtremendous stress, both from their work and their life. They need to have aplace in which they could cease wearing any masks and socialize with theirfriends and families. A picnic in one of the many public parks would be anexcellent choice to enjoy life. Also, having or keeping these parks and squaresmakes both political and historical sense. Most of the world's most famous parksor squares, such as the Red Square in Moscow, Tiananmen Square in Beijing, orHyde Park in London, have transcended the significance of being merely a placefor people to gather together, but acting as national symbols. If those placeswere torn down or stopped being there, a large chunk of people's memories aboutthese places would be rewritten as a consequence.

Admittedly, people might argue that few placesaround the world are blessed with such marvelous histories such as Moscow orBeijing, it should not be denied, however, that each city got its own past totell. This narrative could be best told by something that is permanently therein the form of a square or a park. And there are other places to hide from thehectic city life---pubs, Karaoke, cafés, etc. theseplaces are both costly and less connected with the environment. People shouldhave the choice of going to some place to have a walk that doesn't ask foradmissions.

In a word, having those parks and squares arenot only a way for cities to be more livable, but also, to store the cities'histories and to act as symbols for them. Thus, each city or town should have aplace like this for people to go to.
