It starts on April 13 every year and lasts for three days. At this time, people from the rural areas who are working in the city usually return to home to celebrate the festival. Thus when the time comes. Bangkok temporarily turns into a deserted city. SongKran is a Thai world which means “move”or “change place” as it is the day when the sun changes its position in the zodiac.It is also known as the “Water Festival”as people believe that waterwill wash away bad luck. Last year,my family had a travel in Thailand, and it happened to be the time when the “Water Festival”was celebrated. The capital was not as lively as usual, because most of the migrants went back to their hometowns. And we went to a nearby village of Bangkok. The celebration got us very excited. People threw water to each other, and we joined in them. Just several minutes later, everybody of us was wet through. The experience there is so unforgettable that iI can still remember it even now. |
