The line graph shows the sales of threedifferent kinds of books between 2002 and 2006 on book shelves by a booksalesman.
一、时间为2002-2006的四年内,都是过去时态;
Key features:
1.2002年,adult fiction卖得最好,最受欢迎,但接下来销售额几乎一路下滑,2005年销售额和educationalbooks持平,其后继续下滑,2006年下滑到educational books在2002年的水平;
2.Educationalbooks4年的销售额趋于平缓,略有上浮,从2002年排名第三到2006年超越adult fiction成为第二,中间略有波动;
总结段:(可主观推测该变化后的原因)It appears that during the 4-year period between 2002 and 2006,people’s focus in reading moved gradually from entertaining adult fiction toeducational books, and children’s education, in particular, has enjoyed themost popularity.
Task Two
Some people think that the amount of noisepeople make should be controlled strictly, while other say that people are freeto make as much noise as they wish.
Discuss both views and give your opinion
05.07.23
The detailed description about crime will affectthe people and cause many social
problems. Some people say that the mediashould be strictly controlled. Do you
agree or disagree?
(Whetheryou like it or not),噪音已经成为现代人们生活的一部分(noise has been an unavoidable part of our contemporary life),然而人们对于是否该限制噪音,观点不一(Yet, people’sviews differ as to whether we should put strict rules regulating noise.)
Some feel it essential to control noise.因为首先噪音不利于人的身体健康,尤其是损害听力(do harm to people’s hearing);其次,噪音容易让人心情烦躁(exposure to noise makes people irritable and hostile),继而导致注意力下降、工作效率降低(distract people’sattention and reduce work efficiency),甚至会引发其他人际矛盾乃至冲突 (which may even lead to/trigger interpersonal crisis)
While others disagree, claiming that people should have the freedom tomake as much noise as they like. 他们认为发出噪音是自己的权利(see making noise as one’s own business /basic human right),不该受到干预(should not be deprived orinterfered with)。比如在自家唱歌跳舞娱乐等(entertainmentat home like singing or dancing),或有喜事放鞭炮来营造喜庆氛围(set off fireworks or firecrackers on happy events such as weddingsor birthdays to express one’s joy)……
Personally,日常生活中不需要通过法律途径解决噪音问题(it is unnecessary to resort to legal solution),噪音音量的界定很麻烦(noise level or volumn isdifficult to measure, and therefore a unified limit can be impracitcal。 (Try to think for others)照顾别人的感受(be considerate/thoughtful),控制一下音量,就可以彼此相安和谐共处(live in harmony)。
As Confucius put it, 己所不欲,勿施于人(do not do to others whatyou would not have them do to you)。常用换位思考(transpositional consideration/Put yourself in others’ shoes),就可以推己及人(be considerate),都生活得很愉快(life will be easier andmerrier for all)。
So is the case with noise. As long as we putourselves in others’ shoes and be less self-centred, life will be much easierand happier for everyone.
