Well, I ‘d like to say something about a top singer from Taiwan called Jolin Tsai who also enjoys wide popularity in mainland. Her joyful and energetic music never fails to put you in good mood, and her fickle styles always draw the audience’s attention. She took part in a singing competition as a university student and got the top prize, then the record company positioned her as a girl next door--sweet and happy. Her first debut album was an instant hit, and I was attracted to her voice since then. But after several successful albums, she got tired of the good-girl image and longed for changes. I think that’s one of the reasons I like her, you know a curious singer trying to add more spice to her performance. Her album ‘see my 72 changes’ witnessed her transformation to a hot dancer. And you also could notice her better polished and refined singing skills. She even tried more challenging stuff, like ballet, gymnastics movements,ribbon dance. I once went to her concert in Shanghai, and got quite stunned by her awesome live performance. But she had put huge amounts of effort and training to make it, so when you find out reports about those back stage hard work, you will be moved by her down-to-earth attitude and diligence, and that’s the most important reason I admire her, setting a positive example for teenagers nowadays. |
