本次考试难题
Teachers
1. Do you have a favourite teacher?
Um… Yeah, I suppose I do, but it’s actually kind of hard to pick out afavourite because I’ve been really lucky with all my teachers. You know, they’ve been really great, at least most of them anyway, but I guess myfavourite teacher would have to be my Chinese language teacher, because she wasincredible. I mean, the amount of effort she put into her teaching, and herattention to detail, were just amazing. And not only that, but she also showeda genuine care for all of us, which left a really deep impression on me. Soyeah, out of all my teachers, I’d say she was probably my favourite.
pick out – choose
at least most of them anyway– 至少大部分是这样的
the amount of effort she put into her teaching – 她对教学付出的努力
attention to detail - 细心
And not only that, but - 不仅如此,而且
Genuine care - 真实的关心
Out of all my teachers– 在我所有的老师当中
2. What kinds of teachers do youlike?
I guess…. um…first of all, teachers who arepassionate about their subject, because you know, if they show enthusiasm for whatthey’re teaching, I’m much more likely to get interested in that subject and dowell in it. And as well as this, I also like teachers that are supportiveand…what’s the word…. approachable. So in other words, teachers that showpatience and understanding, and are there for you if you need help.
Supportive - 给予帮助的;热心援助的;
What’s the word – 叫什么来着!
Approachable -和蔼可亲,容易交谈, 平易近人的;友善的
3. What are the qualities of agood teacher?
Um…. I guess the best way to answer this would be to think of some of thegood teachers I’ve had at school and university. So please hang on just asecond while I have a quick think about it…..! Ok, well the good teachers I’vehad have shown a genuine care for their students. You know, they genuinely wanttheir students to learn and develop. It’s not just simply a job to them. Soyeah I think that’s the most important thing – taking their job seriously andreally caring about their students’ development.
Hang on = wait
Make up -组成;构成The people or things that make up something are themembers or parts that form that thing
4. Do you think teachers should beangry at students or not?
No, I think as a general rule, teachers shouldn’tget angry at students. You know, it never ends well when teachers get angry, atleast in my experience! So in my view, I think teachers should always controltheir temper, whatever the situation, and instead use other means to get theirpoint across. I mean, I’m sure you’ve experienced it before, that when ateacher gets angry, the whole atmosphere in the class changes, to one of fear, which is definitely not conducive to learning.
As a general rule - 一般说来,
at least in my experience– 至少我的经验是这样的
control their temper-克制住他们的脾气
get their point across- 把他们的重点讲清楚.
not conducive to learning– 不利于学习
5. Do you like strict teachers?
Yeah I do. I have no problem with them at all, as long as they’re fair!Because I think, on the whole, they tend to set high standards, and soconsequently, that makes us work harder and learn more. And the other goodthing about strict teachers is that they keep students in line, which meansthat the class won’t be interrupted by slackers who just want to joke aroundand be a nuisance.
Set high standards -设立高的标准
Keep students in line -让学生乖乖听话的
Slacker -偷懒的人
Joke around -闹着玩
Be a nuisance - 讨人嫌
6. What’s the difference between young and old teachers?
There’s probably not all that much differenceactually, but I guess the that old teachers tend to have more experience thanyoung ones, and so they’ll be more skilled at adapting to any kind of situationthat might arise in class, whereas young teachers might struggle.
So that’s one difference, and I suppose anothermight be the use of technology, cos probably a lot of old teachers might stickto the traditional teaching methods they’re familiar with, whereas youngteachers, I think, are more likely to bring technology into their teaching, such as using iPads and laptops in class. So yeah, I’d say these are probablythe main differences.
I think it’s fair to say – 我觉得可以说…

【原创范例】
Ok then, wellwhat I’ve decided to talk to you about is the time that I watched a solareclipse, which was pretty spectacular actually, cos it was a total eclipse, notjust a partial one. And I’d actually go so far as saying it was one of thecoolest things I’ve ever seen.
But anyway, asfor when this happened, well I can’t actually remember when it was exactly, cosit was quite a while ago, but I guess it was probably around um… three or fouryears ago, something like that. I do remember the time of day quite clearlythough. It was late morning, sometime around 11-ish, and basically, because itwas such a big thing, you know, like a once in a lifetime occurrence, prettymuch everyone left what they were doing to come out onto the street and watchit. So where I was standing, there must have been, like, a hundred of us alllooking up at the sky to try and get a glimpse of the eclipse.
And it wasincredible, because one moment the sky was bright and sunny, just like anynormal day, and then the next, it went completely dark, you know, like, pitchblack, when the sun disappeared behind the moon. So it felt pretty surreal, seeing the sky in darkness at midday for a few moments. And um.. I remember Iactually got goose pimples watching it, you know, I was in total awe!
So uh.. yeah, Idon’t really know what else to say about it! It was just really, really cool towatch, and I’m sure I’ll remember it for many years to come. Thanks forlistening!
