Part2题目

Describe a subject you didn’t  like but are interested in now.

You should say:

What the subject is

Why you learn it

Why you didn’t like it before

And explain why you like it now.

Well, to tell you the truth, English was my biggest  headache when I was in high school. Back then, we had three required courses  to learn, Mathematics, Chinese and English. Each day we had at least 45  minutes’ class for these courses respectively, and we also had mountainous  piles of assignments to do after class every day. At that time I was quite  puzzled about why English should be included as one of the tests in the  College Entrance Examination in China, ‘cause I thought after all it’s not  our mother tongue, and this language can only be applied to certain aspects  of our daily life and career. Besides, the learning itself was super  torturing, the recital of grammar and vocabulary seemed endless, let along  the rigorous spelling in writing which made me struggled for years. So I  thought the efforts we make to get the hang of it were far greater than the  value it could bring us. This was the impression of English on me before I  entered university.

Well as you can imagine, when I became a college  student, I got interested in English, and now, I’m literally a big fan of it.  In university, English courses are no more compulsory, and the students can  choose which teacher’s class they want to enroll in by themselves, of course  these teachers are largely native speakers from foreign countries. And on  these English classes, knowledge is no longer just about tedious linguistics,  instead more pragmatic contents are included, such as the debating skills in English,  and the tips of how to understand the American TV series without Chinese  subtitles. I was fascinated by the brand-new world that English has brought  to me, and I’m gonna keep exploring it in the future.
